Following the recent resignation of Ruslan Zhaqsylyqov, some media outlets reported that the former Minister of Defense had been detained, citing unnamed sources, Orda.kz reports.
Shortly afterward, Tengrinews reportedly contacted the former official directly and published a video showing Zhaqsylyqov in a home setting.
According to Orda.kz sources, the reports and speculation about the general’s alleged detention may have stemmed from investigative actions at the Ministry of Defense, which could potentially include searches.
Deputy Prosecutor General Asset Chindaliyev told journalists today that he has no knowledge of any such actions at the Ministry:
He gave a comment himself yesterday. We have no information that there are any cases [against Zhaksilykov], or that any actions were taken. I do not possess any such information [regarding possible searches].
