Repairs at Major Kazakh Oil Field to Begin in September

Scheduled maintenance at Kazakhstan’s Karachaganak field will begin in mid-September and reduce oil production by an estimated 400,000–450,000 tons, Orda.kz reports.

Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov announced the planned work at a government briefing.

We expect the maintenance to begin around mid-September. The resulting production losses will amount to approximately 400,000–450,000 tons,Akkenzhenov said.

The minister did not specify how long the maintenance would last.

Karachaganak is one of Kazakhstan’s largest oil and gas condensate fields. It is operated by the Karachaganak Petroleum Operating consortium, which includes Eni, Shell, Chevron, Lukoil and KazMunayGas.
