Tokayev Convenes First Session of Newly Elected Kurultai

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has convened the first session of Kazakhstan’s newly elected Kurultai for 11:00 a.m. on August 28 in Astana, Orda.kz reports.

Deputies are expected to take their oaths during the session. Before then, the five parties that won seats are expected to approve which candidates from their lists will receive mandates. The final names will then be registered by the Central Election Commission.

Adilet secured 110 of the 145 seats. Auyl received 10, Respublica nine, and Ak Zhol and the Nationwide Social Democratic Party eight each.
