Rare Lynx Sighting Recorded in Northern Kazakhstan

A camera trap in the Naurzum State Nature Reserve recorded a lynx, one of Kazakhstan’s most elusive predators, Orda.kz reports.
The footage shows the animal walking through the reserve. Lynx sightings in the wild are rare, and specialists usually detect their presence through tracks.
Lynxes are forest-dwelling predators that primarily hunt hares and small or medium-sized ungulates. Adults can reach 130 centimeters in length and weigh more than 25 kilograms.
Camera traps allow researchers to identify species living in protected areas and monitor their movements, populations and behavior.
Footage like this reminds us that life in the reserve continues beyond human sight. A lynx appeared in the frame—but how much more remains beyond our view?,the reserve said.
Earlier, a camera trap in Altyn-Emel National Park recorded a wolf and a herd of wild asses sharing a watering hole.
