Korean TV Show Denies Receiving Support From Almaty

The production team behind the popular South Korean show I Live Alone says it received no support or sponsorship from Almaty authorities, contradicting an official statement from the city, Orda.kz reports.

The episode featuring television host Jun Hyun-moo aired on August 14. It showed Almaty Airport, Kok-Tobe, the Green Bazaar, Arbat and Lake Kaindy.

The Almaty akimat previously said the filming was supported by the city’s tourism department. However, the show’s production team denied this.

We did not receive any filming support or sponsorship,the team said.

The episode also raised questions about driving documents. Jun rented a car after presenting an international driving permit and his passport.

The South Korean Embassy later warned that Kazakhstan does not recognize South Korean international driving permits. Visitors must carry their original national license and a notarized Russian translation. The production team said it learned about these requirements only after the broadcast.
