Kazakh Woman Missing Amid Deadly Nepal-China Floods

A Kazakh tourist is missing after crossing from Nepal into China with a tour group amid catastrophic flooding in the border region, Orda.kz reports.

Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry said diplomats had joined the search and were working with local authorities.

According to preliminary information, a Kazakh citizen crossed from Nepal into China as part of a tourist group. Her current whereabouts are unknown. Search operations are underway,the ministry said.

Flash floods and mudslides have devastated areas on both sides of the Nepal-China border, destroying homes, roads, bridges and power facilities.

The latest figures vary between agencies as rescue teams continue verifying reports. At least 359 people have died across the affected area, while more than 1,400 remain missing in Nepal and China.

Nepal has established an emergency response center to assist foreign nationals affected by the disaster.
