Religious Radicals Detained in Kazakhstan

The National Security Committee (KNB) of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced the results of a special operation conducted in January 2025, whereby three extremists were detained, Orda.kz reports.
The KNB has reported that with the help of police and prosecutors in three regions of Kazakhstan — Almaty, Aqtobe, and Jambyl — religious radicals have been detained.
These individuals were arrested on suspicion of promoting terrorism. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway per the relevant article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
One of the detainees studied in a terrorist camp abroad and returned to Kazakhstan with a "mission," but he was caught in time and sent to prison. He served his sentence and was released, but did not change his views and continued his illegal activities.
Two other defendants in the case were tried for aggravated assault, robbery, and illegal possession of drugs.
During the searches, extremist literature and other material evidence were confiscated from them.
Earlier, the KNB reported that more than 130 religious radicals were detained in Kazakhstan in 2024.
