Kazakhstan to Use AI to Predict When Roads Need Repairs

Kazakhstan plans to extend an AI-powered monitoring system to all 185,000 kilometers of roads nationwide by the end of 2026, Orda.kz reports, citing the government.
The system already covers more than 41,000 kilometers of national roads. It analyzes road conditions, repair histories and complaints from residents to identify sections where serious defects may develop.
According to Serik Imashev, head of the National Center for Road Asset Quality, the system also tracks contractors, construction materials and the progress of road projects.
The system provides real-time monitoring of road projects, including information about contractors and the materials used. It currently includes 11 services covering quality control, research and construction,Imashev said.
The authorities plan to bring Kazakhstan’s entire road network under digital monitoring by the end of the year.
