Amur tiger Umit killed a wolf and a wild boar during her first 10 days in the wild at the Ile-Balkhash Nature Reserve, Orda.kz reports, citing the Ministry of Ecology.

Umit’s GPS collar allows specialists to track her movements and inspect the places where she has stopped.

During field monitoring, they established that the tiger had killed a wolf and fed on it for several days. She later hunted and killed a wild boar.

The ministry said the successful hunts indicate that Umit is adapting to her new surroundings and can find prey independently.

The female tiger was released into the wild in early August as part of Kazakhstan’s program to restore a tiger population in the Ili River delta and southern Balkhash area.
