Changi Airport Group May Help Build Astana’s New Airport

Singapore’s Changi Airport Group has expressed interest in participating in the construction of a new airport in Astana. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov discussed possible cooperation with company chief Yam Kum Weng, Orda.kz reports.
During the meeting, Bektenov outlined plans to create an international aviation hub and develop the capital’s airport infrastructure.
Changi Airport Group operates Singapore’s Changi and Seletar airports. Its subsidiary has participated in the development and management of more than 60 airports across 20 countries.
The head of the Singaporean company noted Astana’s significant potential as a bridge between Europe and Asia. He confirmed the company’s readiness to contribute its airport-sector expertise and experience to the construction of the new airport,the government said.
The parties also discussed creating a comprehensive commercial and transport ecosystem around the future airport.
However, the government has not announced any specific agreements on Changi Airport Group’s participation in the construction or financing of the project.
Construction of Astana’s new airport is expected to begin in 2027. The city administration is currently carrying out preliminary work, but the final location has not yet been announced.
