A Kazakhstani woman suspected of evading more than 290 million tenge in taxes has been extradited from Russia, Orda.kz reports, citing the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Investigators allege that while managing a commercial company in 2022 and 2023, she understated its income in tax returns. As a result, the company allegedly failed to pay more than 290 million tenge to the state.
The woman reportedly left Kazakhstan after the investigation began and was placed on the international wanted list.
She was detained in Krasnodar in January and extradited at the request of Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office. She is now being held in a pre-trial detention center.
If convicted, she faces up to eight years in prison and could be barred from holding managerial positions for up to three years.
