Stepnogorsk Housing Official Embezzles 43 Million Tenge

An accountant at Stepnogorsk's Housing and Communal Services Department has been found guilty of embezzling 43 million tenge of public funds, Orda.kz reports.
The woman carried out the scheme over three years, transferring money to companies owned by her husband and an associate.
Using her official position, in a conspiracy with others and through fraud, the bookkeeper repeatedly stole budget funds. Thus she caused material damage to the state on an especially large scale, ruled the Aqmola Regional Court.
The municipal employee has been sentenced to six years in prison for fraud.
Her accomplice, the company owner, received a five-year prison sentence.
