Kazakhstan’s Education Ministry is changing the rules for teacher certification. From 2027, testing will be removed entirely, Orda.kz reports.
Deputy Education Minister Shynar Akparova explained the decision at a briefing at the Central Communications Service.
There are cases when teachers do not pass the test and then may turn to someone for help in passing it with the desired result. Therefore, in order to eliminate such corruption risks, testing has been removed.the deputy minister said.
In addition to tests, the requirement to prepare original programs and teaching manuals will also be dropped from the certification process. Instead, teachers will be assessed through an electronic portfolio that will include the achievements of both the teacher and their students.
Previously, the portfolio was kept on paper. A transition period is provided until 2027.
