Kazakhtelecom does not rule out staff cuts as a result of the introduction of artificial intelligence, Orda.kz reports.
The issue was raised at a meeting of the public council of Samruk-Kazyna. Earlier, the company cut more than 500 jobs. Kazakhtelecom CEO Bagdat Musin said the company cannot avoid such technologies, since it operates in the digital sector and sells such solutions itself.
Kazakhtelecom is a digital company, and we cannot help but use AI. We sell it ourselves and cannot avoid using it internally. That is why we have a three-year AI strategy. I now understand that it can replace people in certain jobs, for example call center operators.Musin said.
He added that such technologies are also planned for other areas, including the work of lawyers, HR staff and accountants. The company is also developing AI solutions as a platform for other organizations, including Samruk-Kazyna.
In turn, Samruk-Kazyna board member Bolat Zhamishev said automation inevitably affects the labor market.
The use of AI will in any case lead to structural unemployment. Where manual labor was previously used on a large scale, it will be replaced by automation, and this will certainly lead to structural unemployment.he said.
Zhamishev also said that AI mainly replaces simpler work, while demand for more qualified specialists will grow.
