Astana Braces for Traffic Restrictions During Mongolian President’s Visit and Eco Summit

Traffic restrictions in Astana will remain in place until the end of the workweek because of several major international events in the capital, Orda.kz reports. From April 20 to 23, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh is paying a state visit to Kazakhstan, while from April 22 to 24 Astana is hosting the Regional Ecological Summit under UN auspices.
The State Security Service said traffic will be restricted on certain streets in Astana from April 20 to 24.
From April 20 to 23, President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh is paying a state visit to Kazakhstan. From April 22 to 24, the capital will host the Regional Ecological Summit under the auspices of the UN. The forum is dedicated to the climate challenges of Central Asia and will bring together heads of state and government from several countries, as well as leaders of international organizations.
Also on April 22, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the founding countries of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea will be held under the chairmanship of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In addition, the RES 2026 EXPO exhibition of green technologies and the IX Eurasian Book Fair are taking place in the capital. 
The State Security Service asked residents and visitors of Astana to treat the temporary restrictions with understanding.
