"No Serious Problems Between Our Countries" - Toqayev on Russia
Qasym-Jomart Toqayev and Vladimir Putin spoke in a narrow format following the talks, Orda.kz reports.
Qasym-Jomart Toqayev noted that they have much work ahead.
He pledged to supervise it, as he pays "primary attention to the development of cooperation with the Russian Federation."
There are no serious problems between our countries. As well as other issues, be they serious or not. As soon as cooperation develops, of course, there are moments that require the attention of Heads of State, Heads of Government. For this purpose, such events are carried out, aimed at resolving all existing issues, said Qasym-Jomart Toqayev.
He announced the signing of a package of agreements, a joint statement, and a declaration.
The President of Kazakhstan emphasized that cooperation with Russia "is developing in an ascending direction and has acquired irreversible dynamics."
Vladimir Putin, in turn, thanked Qasym-Jomart Toqayev for the warm welcome.
Some matters require attention, as you said, from our side, and you expect certain decisions from the Russian side. There are the same issues from our side. But the most important thing is, and this was noticeable during the narrow format discussion, that there is a desire to seek answers to all these questions and find them. And they are being found. I do not know of a single issue that we could not resolve together,
Vladimir Putin noted.
He stated, "Despite today's difficulties, cooperation is only developing and becoming more interesting and mutually beneficial for both parties.”
Tomorrow we will talk about such an important component as security within the framework of the CSTO. You see, half of the Russian government has arrived, he added.
Qasym-Jomart Toqayev and Vladimir Putin also actively discussed the Russian language during the run-up to the meeting. At a briefing after the talks, the Presidents spoke on this topic again.
Toqayev once again emphasized that a third of all children studying in Kazakhstan’s schools receive education in Russian.
Another important topic of the negotiations was support for compatriots living in Kazakhstan and Russia. Signing a memorandum of cooperation between the Otandastar Foundation and Rossotrudnichestvo would be important here. Negotiations on this topic are underway, said Qasym-Jomart Toqayev.
Vladimir Putin highly praised the use of the Russian language in Kazakhstan.
We see that this is supported in every possible way by the leadership of the republic and we are grateful to the President of Kazakhstan for the initiative to establish the International Organization for the Russian Language, the activities of which, I am sure, will contribute to its support and promotion as a means of interstate and interethnic communication, said Vladimir Putin.
