At Akorda, the presidents of Kazakhstan and Mongolia agreed to study the possibility of building a direct highway between the two countries, Orda.kz reports.
According to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the project is still at a preliminary stage and requires detailed analysis. To move it forward, the two sides will create a joint intergovernmental working group.
The new road is expected to strengthen trade ties and open up additional transit opportunities for the region.
In addition, the leaders discussed the development of transport cooperation within the framework of the Trans-Altai Dialogue and agreed to restore air links, including flights between Astana and Ulaanbaatar and the launch of the Ust-Kamenogorsk-Ulgii route.
