Kazakhstan’s Respublica Party Keeps Chairman Before New Parliament Election

Kazakhstan’s Respublica party has voted to extend the powers of its chairman, Aydarbek Khojanazarov. He will continue to lead the party for another three years, Orda.kz reports.
The decision was made at the party’s fifth extraordinary congress in Astana. Khojanazarov’s term was due to expire in July, but delegates supported the proposal to extend it for another three years.
Respublica co-chairman Syrymbek Tau said that ahead of the Kurultai elections, it is important for the party to maintain continuity.
In recent weeks, several parliamentary parties in Kazakhstan have changed leaders. Ak Zhol is now headed by Daniya Espayeva instead of Azat Peruashev, Kairat Aituganov was elected chairman of Auyl, and Yermukhamet Yertysbayev resigned as head of the People’s Party of Kazakhstan. Nursultan Shokanov became its new leader.
Earlier, the Central Election Commission approved the calendar plan for preparing and holding elections to the Kurultai, scheduled for August 23, 2026.
The following political parties will be able to take part in the elections to the new unicameral parliament:
- Ak Zhol.
- Auyl.
- Adilet.
- NSDP.
- Baytaq.
- People’s Party of Kazakhstan.
- Respublica.
