Kazakhstan will hold elections to the Kurultai, the country’s new unicameral parliament, on August 23, after President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the relevant decree, Orda.kz reports.
Justice Minister Yerlan Sarsembayev said earlier that from July 1, the president was expected to announce the start of the election campaign. Under the new political framework, the government will resign after the campaign is launched.
The Kurultai is set to replace Kazakhstan’s former bicameral parliament as part of the country’s constitutional changes. The new Constitution came into force on July 1, following a referendum held in March 2026.
