President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has established the Security Council Office as a separate state body directly subordinate and accountable to the president, Orda.kz reports, citing Akorda.

Tokayev signed the decree, titled “On Measures to Further Improve Kazakhstan’s Public Administration System,” on August 29.

The decree creates a separate office supporting the work of the Security Council. Further details about its structure and powers have not yet been released.

Earlier, Kazakhstan also moved to expand the National Security Committee’s powers in cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
