Kazakhstan Introduces Requirements for Knowledge of State Language to Obtain Citizenship

The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed an order that establishes minimum requirements for knowledge of the state language, the fundamentals of the Constitution, and the country's history for persons wishing to obtain or restore citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports.
According to the document, to successfully pass the test, candidates must score at least 36 points in the Kazakh language at an elementary level, nine points in the fundamentals of the Constitution, and 15 points in the history of Kazakhstan. These criteria will become mandatory in the procedure for obtaining citizenship.
The supervising vice minister of science and higher education will oversee the order's implementation.
