Kazakhstan still lacks nearly 250,000 student places in schools despite the construction of new educational facilities, Orda.kz reports.

Deputy Education Minister Zhaiyk Sharabasov said at a briefing that the current shortage stands at 248,000 places.

Over the past two years, we have implemented the Keleshek Mektepteri project. Under it, 217 schools with almost 460,000 places were built. This year, construction continues on more than 90 schools designed for 50,000 students,Sharabasov said.

He added that the shortage is being addressed not only through new school construction. Additional places are also being created by placing state educational orders in private schools.
