Kazakhstan Returns Fraud Suspect From Albania Over Fake University Admission Scheme

A Kazakh citizen suspected of cheating 32 university applicants out of more than 28 million tenge has been extradited from Albania, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, in 2022–2023 the man offered high school students online preparation for the UNT, Kazakhstan’s national university entrance exam, and guaranteed admission to universities.
Prosecutors said 32 people paid him a total of more than 28 million tenge.
After that, the man fled the country. He was put on the international wanted list through Interpol. In May 2025, he was detained in Albania,prosecutors said.
The suspect has now been returned to Kazakhstan and placed in a pre-trial detention center. He faces up to seven years in prison with confiscation of property.
