Kazakhstan does not expect a gasoline shortage, the Energy Ministry said, Orda.kz reports.

The ministry said the country has enough fuel reserves to cover demand during the summer and tourist season.

The total volume of reserves exceeds 1.1 million tons, including the main types of motor fuel — AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline, as well as diesel fuel,Energy Ministry spokesperson Asel Serikpayeva said.

The ministry said oil refineries are regularly replenishing fuel reserves.

It also reminded that Kazakhstan has a temporary ban on the export of certain oil products by road and rail until November 21.

In addition, vehicles may cross the state border no more than once a day.

Since June 20, controls at border checkpoints have been strengthened. Employees of the National Security Committee, the Interior Ministry, the State Revenue Committee and the Financial Monitoring Agency are involved in inspections.

The situation is also being monitored inside the country. Regional headquarters under akimats are checking fuel availability at gas stations, monitoring illegal fuel exports and responding to possible violations by sellers.

The ministry added that retail fuel prices in Kazakhstan are not regulated by the state and are set by the market.
