Putin And Tokayev Discuss Energy As Russia Looks For Fuel Imports

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed trade, economic and energy cooperation by phone, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Kremlin, the leaders discussed the development of Russian-Kazakh relations, with special attention to bilateral projects in trade, the economy and energy.
The Kremlin also said Tokayev shared his impressions from his recent visit to Brussels.
The phone call came amid Reuters reports that Russia may import gasoline from Kazakhstan. The agency wrote that Moscow is discussing the purchase of about 50,000 tons of AI-92 gasoline from Astana, although there has been no official confirmation of supplies.
Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also said Moscow is holding talks with other countries on possible fuel imports.
Contacts are being made. If an agreement is reached at reasonable prices, it will happen. This will be another step toward market stabilization,Peskov said.
