Kazakhstan Senators Step Down At Final Meeting

Members of Kazakhstan’s Senate have completed their work and resigned ahead of the formation of the Kurultai, Orda.kz reports.
At the final meeting, Senate Chairman Maulen Ashimbayev thanked President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, senators, Senate staff and journalists for their work.
Ashimbayev said the senators had fulfilled the mission entrusted to them and contributed to the implementation of political reforms.
First of all, on my own behalf and on behalf of all senators, I express my great gratitude to the head of state for the high trust placed in us, as well as for the opportunities for joint implementation of reforms and constant support,Ashimbayev said.
He added that Kazakhstan is entering a new stage of development linked to the construction of a “fair Kazakhstan” and the implementation of the updated Constitution.
Ashimbayev also thanked journalists, saying the media had covered parliament’s work promptly and objectively and helped build dialogue between the authorities and society.
