Planned repairs at the Atyrau Oil Refinery will not lead to a shortage of gasoline or diesel in Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports.
KazMunayGas Chairman Askhat Khasenov said the country has enough fuel reserves for more than a month.
There are enough supplies today. We have more than 30 days of gasoline. The situation is the same with diesel. There are enough reserves for all major types of oil products in the country. We prepare repair plans in advance because they are linked to industrial safety requirements,Khasenov said.
The Atyrau refinery covers about a third of Kazakhstan’s fuel needs. However, according to Khasenov, the temporary shutdown of the plant does not create risks for the domestic market.
At the same time, he declined to comment on the possible outflow of fuel to neighboring countries, saying only that KazMunayGas is responsible for the stable operation of the country’s refineries.
