Kazakhstan Rewards 2026 Paralympic Medalists With Cash Payments

Kazakh athletes who won medals at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo have received cash awards, Orda.kz reports, citing the Sports Ministry.
The government adopted the relevant resolution. The total amount of payments exceeded 388 million tenge.
The awards went to Yerbol Khamitov, who competed in para biathlon, para cross-country skiing and the mixed ski relay; Alexander Gerlitz, who competed in para cross-country skiing and the mixed ski relay; and Vladislav Kobal, who competed in the mixed ski relay.
Khamitov won bronze in para cross-country skiing and later became Paralympic champion in para biathlon, taking gold in the 4.5 km pursuit race.
The Sports Ministry also said the Paralympic champion is entitled to additional support from local authorities. The akimat will provide him with a free apartment from the local public housing stock.
Cash payments were also transferred to the athletes’ first coaches, personal coaches and head coaches.
