Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Ministry does not expect meat prices to rise sharply, despite the high share of feed and fuel in production costs, Orda.kz reports.

Deputy Agriculture Minister Azat Sultanov said the state partly supports farmers by supplying cheaper fuel, which is used both during field work and for haymaking.

If we are talking about feed production as part of standard spring field work and harvesting, farmers are provided with fuel and lubricants. If we are talking about feed harvested on natural pastures and hayfields, this cheaper fuel can be used for mowing grass. This partially reduces costs at the expense of the state. Therefore, in the current situation, we do not predict a sharp jump in prices,Sultanov said.

At the same time, he acknowledged that feed production makes up a significant share of livestock production costs.

Sultanov added that fuel prices also affect processed meat products, since fuel is used in logistics and other production processes.
