The high-profile case of Qaraganda businesswoman Alika Mukhamadieva has been accepted for trial by the Kazybekbi District Court, Orda.kz reports.
The first hearing is scheduled for October 14, 2025.
According to the judge’s ruling, the proceedings will be held in open court, and Mukhamadieva will be escorted to the hearing. She has remained in custody throughout the investigation.
Mukhamadieva faces charges under Article 174, Part 1 of Kazakhstan’s Criminal Code: “Inciting social, national, tribal, racial or religious discord.”
The case stems from her comments about Kazakhs on the social platform Threads. Her remarks sparked accusations of provocation and insult from users. Although she later issued a public apology in a recorded video, the move did not prevent criminal prosecution.
Well known in Qaraganda, Mukhamadieva owns a business importing goods from China and a clothing store. If convicted, she faces a potential sentence of two to seven years of restricted freedom or imprisonment.
