The first round of anti‑tick treatment has started in Almaty, Orda.kz reports with reference to the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control.
Forests, city parks and squares covering 2,366 hectares have been disinfected. The treatment is planned mainly for the morning hours. Information boards warning about anti‑tick treatment will be installed at the boundaries of the sites.
The work is carried out by employees of the Almaty Disinfection Center, and specialists from the sanitary and epidemiological service monitor the process. Treatment is carried out only in favorable weather — without precipitation.
When spraying, the insecticidal drug Cipertrin is used. It is applied in minimally effective dosages that are safe for humans and animals, the department specified.
However, residents of Almaty are advised not to approach the treatment sites to avoid the drug coming into contact with skin or clothing. Pet owners are also asked not to let animals into the treated areas until the product is completely dry.
Experts noted that berries and mushrooms in such areas may only be collected 40 days after treatment.
