A resident of Kokshetau deceived 80 unemployed people and pocketed 40 million tenge by promising to find them jobs in the United Kingdom, Orda.kz reports.
These 80 individuals have now been officially recognized as victims.
The Akmola region police department reported that a group of people scammed citizens who were hoping to find work abroad.
During the pre‑trial investigation, it was revealed that from 2023 to January 2026, a resident of Kokshetau offered paid services for finding jobs in the UK to citizens through the social network Instagram. Under the pretext of visa processing, medical insurance, biometric procedures and other services, he took money from unsuspecting citizens, but in fact did not employ anyone. The funds were transferred to him both through bank transfers and in cash.officials say.
Currently, 80 people have been recognized as victims. However, there may be even more people who fell prey to the fraudster. It is possible that some of those deceived, especially those who paid smaller amounts, did not file complaints. The total damage so far amounts to 40 million tenge. The suspect is under house arrest.
