In the first two months of 2026, exports of fruits and vegetables through the Khorgos border crossing in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region increased by 29.3% year‑on‑year, reaching 137,000 tons, Orda.kz reports.
Khorgos is handling a growing flow of refrigerated trucks carrying fresh produce across the China–Kazakhstan border. The cargo includes apples, citrus fruits, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, which are then shipped onward to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and other markets.
A local trading company says the export season is now at its busiest. Its head, Yu Huan, said the company alone dispatches nearly 30 trucks a day, moving more than 700 tons of produce. Morning shipments can reportedly reach Almaty later the same day.
Customs officials in Khorgos have expanded fast-track processing for fruit and vegetable cargo. Dedicated windows, separate lanes and 24-hour clearance are being used to cut waiting times and move perishable goods through the crossing more quickly.
