How Much Was Kazzinc Fined for Air Pollution in Oskemen

Environmentalists inspected the metallurgical site of Kazzinc LLP in Oskemen and found excessive harmful emissions. The company was fined nearly 20 million tenge, Orda.kz reports.
An unscheduled inspection was carried out by employees of the Department of Ecology during adverse weather conditions. Specialists took measurements and recorded exceedances for several substances.
For sulfur dioxide — 3.5 times, for carbon monoxide — twice, for nitrogen oxide — 1.5 times. the department reported.
According to the inspection, the treatment equipment does not work efficiently enough and fails to filter emissions adequately. In addition, the company did not reduce emission levels during the period of adverse weather conditions, as required.
As a result, the company was fined almost 20 million tenge and ordered to eliminate the violations.
