A court in Shymkent has sentenced a local resident to seven years in prison for promoting terrorism and inciting violence, Orda.kz reports.
According to the National Security Committee (KNB), the individual encouraged others to kill, citing religious justifications.
The agency noted that since the beginning of 2025, 52 individuals in Kazakhstan have been convicted of terrorism or extremism-related offenses.
In June, courts in Atyrau and Aqtobe handed down prison sentences of six and seven years to two more citizens.
“The defendants had previous convictions for common crimes and were attempting to travel to terrorist zones,” the KNB stated.
Investigations are currently ongoing involving 52 other individuals.
In April, two citizens were also sentenced to prison for allegedly planning terrorist attacks and encouraging others to join extremist groups.
