Kazakhstan’s utility infrastructure is showing significant signs of aging, with 49% of heat, water supply, and sanitation networks now classified as worn out. The total length of these networks across the country spans approximately 137,000 kilometers, Orda.kz reports.

The regions with the most deteriorated infrastructure include: Pavlodar – 66% worn, Qaraganda – 62%, Abay Region– 59%, East Kazakhstan – 58%, Ulytau – 58%, North Kazakhstan – 56%.

Around 67,000 kilometers of utility networks need to be replaced. This year, 176 billion tenge has been allocated from the national budget for the construction and reconstruction of water supply systems. By 2030, we aim to reduce the wear rate to 40%.  said Minister of Industry and Construction Yersayin Nagaspayev during a government briefing.

Meanwhile, during a separate government session, the Ministry of Energy reviewed the results of the heating season. Vice Minister Sungat Yesimkhanov announced that nine thermal power plants had moved from the "red" risk zone to "yellow", and three more had improved to the "green" zone, reflecting progress in the energy sector.
