The Ministry of Energy has presented its assessment of the past heating season, Orda.kz reports.
Vice Minister Sungat Yesimkhanov stated that nine thermal power plants had moved from the "red" risk zone to the "yellow," while three others improved to the "green" category.
In total, energy companies were fined 170 million tenge for various violations. The Ministry also introduced stricter regulations, tightening penalties for delays in repairs, insufficient fuel reserves, and damage to power networks.
Yesimkhanov noted that the national energy infrastructure renewal project aims to reduce asset depreciation levels to 40%. The plan includes 46 electricity supply projects and 28 focused on heat supply.
The Ministry of Energy added that electricity generation in Kazakhstan is funded through market mechanisms such as tenders and auctions, with no budget spending allocated to these projects.
