The Ministry of Defense explained what will change in the conscription campaign this spring, Orda.kz reports.
The call-up began on March 1 and will continue until June 30.
This year, the conscription campaign is distinguished by the adoption of a number of measures in matters of military service security, digitalization of registration and conscription work, as well as optimization of the activities of local military command bodies, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan Saken Zhusupov said at a briefing.
Registration of 17-year-old individuals for military service is now being conducted through electronic government services in a proactive format.
Similarly, exemptions and deferrals from conscription can be obtained electronically for those studying, having children, working as teachers or doctors in rural areas, or possessing academic degrees.
Last year, more than 160,000 young people were registered, approximately 300,000 received deferrals, and 360,000 Kazakhstanis were exempted.
The Ministry of Defense is also considering implementing SMS notifications as digital summons for conscripts to appear at recruiting offices.
Work continues on integrating medical information systems with regional recruitment offices to automate the process of medical examination of citizens, added Zhusupov.
Previously, Kazakhstan's government approved parameters for 2025 conscription by decree, with plans to draft 42,098 men during two campaigns scheduled for March-June and September-December.
