Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Hold First Foreign Ministers' Council Meeting in Khiva

Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu and his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov held the inaugural meeting of the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Council of Foreign Ministers in Khiva, Orda.kz reports.
The Ministers discussed cooperation in politics, trade, investment, energy, and transport — highlighting the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the construction of the Kambarata-1 hydroelectric power plant.
There is positive momentum in bilateral relations. Both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthening allied ties based on friendship and good neighborliness,

They also signed a protocol formalizing the agreements and emphasized regional cooperation, including trade expansion with Afghanistan and initiatives like the Aral Sea rescue fund and the “C5+” formats.
Nurtleu concluded his visit by touring Khiva’s historic sites and receiving a warm farewell with traditional music and dance.
The meeting follows Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s August 2024 visit to Astana, where he and President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev launched a partnership program to boost trade to $10 billion by 2030.
Mirziyoyev’s daughter, Saida Mirziyoyeva, also recently visited Almaty.
