Toqayev and Mirziyoyev Discuss Bilateral Ties as Uzbek President’s Daughter Visits Almaty

President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke by phone on March 18, exchanging congratulations on the upcoming Nauryz holiday, Orda.kz reports, citing Aqorda.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening trade, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. They also discussed the schedule for upcoming high-level meetings.
The conversation coincided with the visit of Mirziyoyev’s daughter, Saida Mirziyoyeva, to Almaty. As an assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, she attended the premiere of the ballet Lazgi – Dance of Soul and Love at the Kazakhstan National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Mirziyoyeva was welcomed by Minister of Culture Aida Balayeva, State Secretary Yerlan Karin, and Almaty Akim Yerbolat Dosayev. She later shared photos from the event on social media.

Mirziyoyeva emphasized the role of cultural events in strengthening regional ties:
Such cultural events not only showcase the beauty of our art but also strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between our peoples, helping to improve mutual relations and take them to a new level. We strive to contribute to the expansion of cooperation with Central Asian states in the economic, political, and cultural spheres. We firmly believe that harmony and unity between our peoples can turn this region into a powerful center of cohesion.
Mirziyoyeva has repeatedly highlighted the importance of closer ties between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

During her visit to Astana on August 5, 2024, for the opening of the Zakovat Intellectual Games tournament, she reflected on the progress in bilateral relations over recent years:
"Why did I say that today we feel at home in Kazakhstan? Do you remember how it was before? I do. Strained relations, long border queues, mistrust. Could we really feel at home? And today, the friendship between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan serves as an example for the entire world."
