Powerful Winds Cause Damage in Several Regions of Kazakhstan

A storm warning was issued today in most regions of Kazakhstan. Strong winds caused damage to residential buildings, social facilities and urban infrastructure, Orda.kz reports.
During the day, the wind hit the Karaganda region. According to the akimat, gusts reached 23 meters per second. In Karaganda, the roofs of three residential buildings were partially torn off, a parked car was damaged, and trees and large branches fell in different parts of the city.


In Abai, the roofs of two five-story buildings were damaged. In the Osakarov district, in the village of Zhuldyz, about 400 square meters of roofing were torn off school No. 18. In Karkaraly, the roof of a two-story residential building was damaged, and an unused metal chimney collapsed on the grounds of boiler house No. 2.
Strong winds also affected the Pavlodar region. In Ekibastuz, bus stop pavilions were blown over, the roofs of buildings and power lines were damaged, and power outages were reported.
As local residents wrote on social media, a dust storm plunged the city into twilight for several minutes, after which heavy rain fell in some areas.
According to preliminary data, there were no deaths or injuries.
