In Kazakhstan, over 82 thousand passenger cars were produced in the first 9 months of 2024.
The emphasis is on increasing the production of small-unit assembly equipment. The Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev reported this at a government meeting, Orda.kz reports.
He stated that the country is nearing the completion of a plant to produce CHANGAN, HAVAL, and CHERY cars. This plant, which has a capacity of 90,000 units per year, is based entirely on small-unit assembly. A plant for the production of KIA cars is also currently under construction. The investment amount is $200 million.
A project worth $150 million for the production of Geely, Exeed, and KAIYI passenger cars has been launched.
Further development of the sector is planned through deepening localization and mastering the production of the component base. This year, the launch of serial production of multimedia systems and car seats in the city of Almaty is expected, the minister reported.
He also reported that in agricultural engineering, production volumes have increased fourfold in physical terms over the past five years. Over 5,000 tractors and combines were produced in the first nine months of this year.
Kazakhstani agricultural producers are provided with modern domestically produced equipment, including global brands Claas, Horsch, and Deutz Fahr. This year, new major investors have arrived: Amazone and Zoomlion.
