Several Districts in North Kazakhstan Remain Under Flood Threat

A second flood peak is now underway in the North Kazakhstan region, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev said, Orda.kz reports.
He inspected key sites, including the Sergeyevskoye reservoir, dams and villages along the Yesil River.
Petropavlovsk, the districts of Gabit Musrepov, Shal Akyn, Yesil and Kyzylzhar are currently in the risk zone. The peak is already underway in two districts, while in Petropavlovsk it is expected between April 30 and May 2.
The region is preparing for possible flooding, and hundreds of accommodation points have been prepared in case of evacuation, the prime minister’s press service said.
In total, more than 100 settlements remain under monitoring.
The authorities expect the flood period to end by the beginning of May without serious consequences.
