Orthodox Christmas Eve Services Held Across Kazakhstan
Orthodox churches across Kazakhstan began Christmas Eve services at 23:00 on January 6. The main celebration was held at Almaty's Ascension Cathedral in the 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park.
Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan led the service.








The Christmas celebration, beginning with the traditional all-night vigil on January 6, is a major Christian holiday, and January 7 is observed as a public holiday in Kazakhstan.
