Where in Kazakhstan People Live the Longest

Life expectancy in Kazakhstan continues to grow, according to the Bureau of National Statistics. It increased from 75.44 to 75.97 years in 2025. Residents of Astana and Almaty became the leaders in terms of longevity, Orda.kz reports.
On average, people live longer in cities than in villages: 76.63 years against 74.81. Women still live much longer than men – 79.8 years against 72.19. Such updated data was shared by the Bureau of National Statistics.
In terms of regions, the highest life expectancy at birth was recorded in the cities of Almaty – 78.83 years – and Astana – 78.78 years. The lowest was in the Ulytau region – 73.56 years.the department reported.
The gender gap remains significant: women's life expectancy has come close to the historical milestone of 80 years (79.8 compared to 79.42 in 2024). Meanwhile, the figure for men is much lower – 72.19 years (up from 71.33 years earlier).
The lowest life expectancy was recorded in the Ulytau region – 73.56 years.
Earlier, Kazakhstan developed a new healthcare development concept until 2029. The authorities aim to increase life expectancy to 77 years. The document focuses on reducing premature mortality among people aged 30–70 – primarily from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases. The concept also includes the development of primary healthcare, the introduction of digital solutions and the strengthening of human resources.
