RSE "Kazvodkhoz" under the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation will build small hydroelectric power plants at several reservoirs in the country, Orda.kz reports.
New projects are planned to be launched in the Karaganda, Aktobe and Abay regions. The stations will be located at the Samarkand, Kargalinsky and Karakol reservoirs.
Currently, all three are undergoing state expert review.
At the same time, specialists are developing design and estimate documentation for five more facilities. For three of them, they plan to attract private investors.
The projects are being implemented within the framework of the roadmap for the development of small hydroelectric power plants, which was approved in September last year.
As a result, the total volume of electricity generation at the hydraulic structures of RSE 'Kazvodkhoz' will be 30 MW per year. There are already three small hydroelectric power plants on the company's balance sheet – at the Sergeevsky hydroelectric facility, the Intumaksky reservoir and the Dostyk hydroelectric facility on the Khorgos River.said Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Erbolat Ibraikhanov.
In total, specialists have selected 29 sites where small hydroelectric power plants could be built.
