The National Bank of Kazakhstan has extended the circulation period for old‑model 10,000‑tenge banknotes until June 2027, Orda.kz reports.
As the regulator explained, the decision was made taking into account the proposals of the Association of Financiers of Kazakhstan.
During this period, the old and new banknotes will be used simultaneously. The banknotes remain legal tender and are required to be accepted at face value throughout the country. The National Bank continues to issue the new "Saki Style" series and gradually replaces the old bills.
After the deadline, old‑style banknotes can be exchanged.
All banks and Kazpost JSC will exchange old‑style banknotes for new ones for another three years, while National Bank branches will accept them for an indefinite period.the National Bank noted.
At the end of last year, the National Bank began issuing a new 500‑tenge banknote from the "Saki Style" series. This is the fifth banknote of the new series, and it is expected to enter mass circulation in the second quarter of 2026.
