Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have agreed to directly integrate their customs systems, Orda.kz reports.
The documents were signed during a meeting between State Revenue Committee Chair Zhandos Duisembiev and the heads of Uzbekistan’s customs and tax authorities.
Under the new system, information on goods and transport will be exchanged automatically between the two countries, removing the need for paperwork and intermediaries. The change is expected to speed up cargo and vehicle crossings, reduce queues, and lower business costs.
It will also help minimize corruption risks by creating a more transparent control system and reducing opportunities for “gray schemes.”
The integration also includes plans to digitalize tax oversight. Automatic data exchange on goods, vehicles, and even cryptocurrency will help authorities track transactions without additional bureaucracy. Individuals will benefit from faster border clearance, while companies will gain more predictable delivery times and less administrative burden.
As a reminder, Deputy Finance Minister Asset Turysov previously outlined the timeline and process for introducing artificial intelligence into customs procedures.
