Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov has signed a law ratifying two bilateral agreements with Kazakhstan regarding the ownership and lease terms of Kazakhstan-owned resorts on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, Orda.kz reports, citing Tazabek.
The agreements, originally signed in 2006 and 2009, reaffirm that while the land remains under Kyrgyz jurisdiction through a lease arrangement, the resort properties themselves are the legal property of Kazakhstan.
Under the agreements, Kazakhstan retains ownership of the following facilities:
- Olympus Center (formerly the Avtomobilist Kazakhstana holiday home, Korumdu village)
- Samal Rest House (Bosteri village)
- Kazakhstan Sanatorium (Cholpon-Ata)
- University Camp (Bosteri village)
The ratification ensures legal security for the operation of these resorts, while also preserving Kyrgyzstan’s control over the land they occupy.
