A series of international meetings is taking place today in the Ukrainian capital as part of the so-called “coalition of the willing,” reports Orda.kz.
The main agenda item is a proposal to call for a complete ceasefire lasting 30 days. A joint declaration, expected to be signed following the talks, emphasizes that EU countries are acting in coordination with the United States.
At Kyiv’s central railway station, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Labour Party leader Keir Starmer, CDU head Friedrich Merz, and European Council President Donald Tusk were received by Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The diplomatic push follows a call from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who urged both sides to agree to a 30-day truce as a step toward a comprehensive peace agreement. Trump had previously spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by phone. Trump also recently warned of further sanctions pressure if a brokered deal is not respected.
At the same time, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia will not agree to a ceasefire while military aid continues to flow into Ukraine.
Otherwise, it would be an advantage for Ukraine. Mobilization will continue, and Ukraine will use this time to train new troops and give rest to existing ones. Why should we give Ukraine such an advantage?Peskov stated.
He denied that Moscow is intentionally stalling the peace process.
According to Peskov, it is Ukraine that is not ready for immediate negotiations.
Putin is doing everything possible to resolve the issue and reach an agreement through peaceful and diplomatic means. But in their absence, we are forced to continue the military operation,he added.
